Amy Hutto
Amy began her interest in nutrition when several close friends and family members were dramatically impacted by chronic diseases which could have been treated or better controlled with good nutrition habits. Her studies began at her local community college and she completed a Bachelor's Degree in Foods and Nutrition at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Amy's desire to become a Registered Dietitian led her to The Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. While there she recieved her Master's Degree in Nutrition and Food Science and participated in their Dietetic Internship. She was nationally registered, licensed in the state of Florida and immediately began working in the hospital in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. Amy's desire to work with the elderly led her to work in nursing homes and skilled care facilities, as well as state and local community programs supporting the nutrition of the elderly. In 2005 she began her private practice that laid the groundwork for Namaste Wellness. Amy's path to becoming a massage therapist began as a personal interest and grew into an added service in her private practice. She studied massage therapy at the Florida Health Academy in Naples, FL. She has been providing therapeutic massage for private clients since her completion of their program. Her studies included classes on Chinese medicine and sparked her interest in Eastern and holistic paths to health and wellness. This interest led Amy to expand her personal practice in yoga and to ultimately becoming a yoga teacher. She studied at Joyful Yoga and Ayurvedic Spa in Bonita Springs, FL and completed the 200 hour teacher training course. This completed the three areas of focus for Namaste Wellness and her mission. Amy's personal goal can be summed up by the words of Gandhi, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."
